Saint George Greek Orthodox Church was built in 1967 in a style that replicates the Greek churches from the Aegean Islands. The hemispheric dome above the central space of the church and the apse are decorated with figurative murals – oil on canvas paintings attached to the plaster support. The background of the paintings was gilded.
Due to a defective roof, the murals, as well as the plaster support, were damaged by infiltrating water. The murals were restored and their background gilded with 24K gold leaf.
