Venetian Plaster Decoration
Private Home in San Marcos, California
Created in Italy hundreds of years ago, Venetian plaster surpasses in beauty and durability all faux finishes. It adds value to homes even when used as accent walls in one or several rooms of the house. Venetian plaster is multidimensional, like stucco, so the amount of richness you get is very different from the effect obtained by using glaze and paint faux finishes.
Venetian plaster has in composition marble dust (calcium carbonate) and pigments. The finish usually is marble-like high gloss. The final finish is durable, will not fade and never needs painting. The project was completed in July 2008.
The owners decided to have Venetian plaster applie on the main wall of the dining room, as well as, on the intersected beams and on the columns in the same space.
The custom golden color chosen harmonizes well with the color of the surrounding walls in the house, the hardwood flooring and the ornate furniture of the dining room. In the kitchen, the supporting wall of the island was also covered with Venetian plaster. It harmonizes well with granite countertop and surrounding walls.
